  • Charmaine Sheh receives cake from Malaysian fans

    April 29th, 2010

    Dear Chibi,

A few months ago I drew chibi dolls of the cast from TVB drama ‘Beyond the Realm of Conscience‘ for K-TVB.net. This included a character called ‘Lau Sam Ho’ who was performed by actress Charmaine Sheh 佘詩曼.

A week ago, a Malaysian fan of Charmaine Sheh contacted me saying she was going to visit Malaysia and the fan club wanted to make a cake for her based on my chibi drawing. I thought- ‘oh why not’, so gave her a reply and didn’t expect anything to come out of it.

It turns out it really went ahead, and Charmaine actually got the cake with my drawing on it 8D That’s pretty awesome! (Even though I don’t get any credit for the original) She recently started up a weibo account (Chinese equivalent of Twitter) and posted a picture of  it as her first entry too, hehehee!

Here are two lovely photos I was recently sent as a token of appreciation ^.^ (She asked me to watermark them so I did)

    New fansite and recent happenings

    March 27th, 2010

    Dear Chibi,
I haven’t blogged much lately nor gone on MSN/facebook and things like that. About 2 weeks ago, I decided to give myself a break from MoonSticks to give myself some air to do other things. I really do love MoonSticks, but the amount of time spent thinking about it became a bit overwhelming. I thought about it for a while and decided I would probably benefit from a little hiatus. I gave myself a time frame of 4 weeks- I’m not sure if it’s the right decision, but time will tell!

The break from MoonSticks commenced and I decided to finally get around to watch things I’ve been meaning to see for over a year. Last year June, I was anticipating Chinese Paladin 3, but thought I’d wait until there was English subtitles so it would be easier for me to understand (it’s in Mandarin). I waited and waited..and it kind of didn’t happen. Then last year December while I was in Hong Kong, I grabbed myself a copy of the DVD. It was in Mandarin audio with simplified Chinese subtitles. I didn’t care at this point.. I HAVE TO SEE IT! So yay, I was happy with my find.

However, when I returned from my trip, I have no idea why but I left it sitting on my shelf for another 2 months or so. Didn’t I have time? What was I doing? I guess I was busy with something..  Well, whatever was holding me back disappeared and I started watching it. I got hooked.. big time. Apart from work and sleep, for a whole week I did nothing but watch Chinese Paladin 3. I couldn’t get it out of my head XD And surprisingly, there was no language barrier at all, I pretty much understood the whole thing! Now I wish I had seen it sooner =_=

After completing the 37 episode drama (which didn’t take very long due to the err..marathons)  I built a fansite. yay. My 2009 new years resolution was to make a new website. It didn’t happen because I didn’t feel passionate about any topic to devote any time to it. This time I found something and although it’s a year late, I’m happy it happened!

Undying Love: Xu Changqing & Zi Xuan Fansite

I built a fansite for my favourite couple from Chinese Paladin 3 performed by Wallace Huo and Tiffany Tang Yan. I had no idea who they were, but damn were they good to watch! I spent the past week working on the site and now it’s up and running. It’s so much fun working on a website of a topic you really like. It doesn’t feel like work to me at all (even though I do web stuff full time) I hope this web-making passion will never die :)

    Beyond Octoby

    October 31st, 2009

    Dear Chibi,

It’s 31st October, the last day of the month! What does this mean..?

    Halloween? Yes.
    Internet capped? Yes. Yes. Yes.
    OMG WHAT TO DO??!!! >.<

Oh the agony of sitting at the computer, and not seeing any page load is very disheartening. I was woken up this morning by what sounds like witches laughing and bats flying around. (I really heard that! ) Anyway, I checked the time and it was 6am- a bit early to wake up on a Saturday morning but I thought hey- I could make use of this time! I sit up, only to remember the Internet is down. Oh, okay- good night then. zzz.

What’s wrong with me? Isn’t there anything else I can do which doesn’t involve being “connected”? XD It must be some kind of addiction. I sit at the computer everyday at work, web designing, surfing the net. I go home and do pretty much the same thing (except web stuff for myself). But what exactly on the net do I HAVE to do? This made me think hard. Technically I can still work on websites, I can blog (which I’m doing right now), MSN chat (which doesn’t require much bandwidth usage), draw pictures, play games, watch drama or anime. These things I can do. Apart from googling or youtubing, I don’t think there’s an awful lot. 1-2 days without the Internet shouldn’t be so bad.

    BUT IT IS!!!

Linda Chung and Moses Chan visit Sydney!

    September 13th, 2009

    Dear Chibi,

I’m absolutely over the mooooonnnn ^_______^!! Today Kaz, Jacky and I went to China Town for TVB’s Linda Chung 鍾嘉欣 and Moses Chan 陳豪’s autograph session! To be eligible for an autograph, we needed to spend $30+ at a store in Sussex Centre to go into a draw. Kaz entered and was lucky enough to win a ticket!! :D She was also allowed to bring two friends along and invited me and Jacky, yay.

We arrived at 12pm to redeem our tickets and went to have some drinks to cool ourselves down :) We went back there at 1.20pm to start queuing up and we were 2nd in line! How awesome is that? They made their appearance at 2pm and at that very moment, the queue kind of went crazy and people just pushed in and jumped all over the place ^^;; IT WAS SOOO EXCITING!! I was surprised how happy I was actually- I didn’t think I would be THIS excited to see them, but I went crazy too. lol There was sooo much competition for a good shot of them, but alas.. I think I dominated!!! :D :D :D

    Linda and Moses at Sydney

I mean seriously… can anyone get a better view of them than this???? No randoms in the way!!! YAAAAAYYY!!! XD I didn’t even zoom-in for this picture- I was that close to them! So happy..lol

    Linda and Moses Wave

    Nodame Cantabile

    July 18th, 2009

    Dear Chibi,

In my previous post I mentioned I might give Nodame Cantabile ago again because of Ueno Juri’s awesome portrayal of Ruka from Last Friends. Since then, I’ve finished it and surprisingly, I really enjoyed it this time! Previously, I gave up after episode 3, but it seems the story starts getting better at episode 4. My my.

What really drew me in the story was the relationship between the clumsy and messy Nodame, and the arrogant multi-lingual perfectionist Chiaki. It was very very cute! XD There were very few romantic scenes of them together but that makes it all worthwhile in the end when they do kinda of get-together.

    Nodame and Chiaki

Aside from them though, I wasn’t as interested in the other characters- so it was a good thing they got the most screen time! Eita and Mizukawa Asami from Last Friends also played some part in this drama, except I liked their characters more from Last Friends. It’s quite interesting watching this comedy after the serious nature of Last Friends, but it gives it a nice balance. Their characters are totally opposites- especially for Ueno Juri. Even now I find it hard to believe Ruka and Nodame are played by the same person… @_@ You would understand if you watched them both. XD

    I can’t wait to see the special, and the 2 movies :) Ahh…Chiaki senpaiiii!! ♥ >_<!

    Prisoner of Love

    July 3rd, 2009

    Dear Chibi,

For the past few nights I’ve been watching a j-drama called ‘Last Friends ラスト·フレンズ’ . I haven’t seen something this emotional since NANA. (Thanks Somps~)

    Last_Friends

Fake displays of strength and avarice have become meaningless
I’ve been in love with you since that day
When I’m free, with time to spare, there’s no life in being alone
I’m just a prisoner of love
    Just a prisoner of love

    Oh… Just a little more
    Don’t you give up
    Oh don’t ever abandon me
If the cruelty of reality tries to tear us apart
We’ll be drawn more closely to one another
Somehow, somehow, I have a feeling we’ll be able to stand firm
I’m just a prisoner of love
    Just a prisoner of love..

    Chinese Paladin 仙劍奇俠傳 ~love

    June 29th, 2009

    Dear Chibi,

Recently I started a new Twitter account dedicated to Chinese Paladin, mainly ’cause I’m a bit crazy about it and just wanted a place where I can share my obsession XD I’m sure the average person wouldn’t know anything about it…lol

Anyways, I thought I’d keep all Chinese Paladin related stuff on the Twitter account, but then I really wanted to share this video here on my blog, too. (lol, kinda defeated the purpose of the twitter account, aye?)

It’s the opening theme of Chinese Paladin 3 仙劍奇俠傳三 主題曲:生生世世愛~ And I love it!! I’m really really looking forward to this series.

But yesh, I might have to wait a while for the English Subtitles since my mandarin is a bit rusty at the moment- it’s a little hard to follow XD

    Currently seeing..

    February 22nd, 2009

    Dear Chibi,
Yesterday I discovered a newly released artwork of a Chinese drama I’m really looking forward to… OMG, HOW PRETTY IS THIS?? *__*
    cp3drama.jpg
Chinese Paladin 3 (Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan Zhi Ling Zhu Shen Jian )

I went pretty nutty when I saw the trailer a few weeks ago, especially discovering the amazing Hu Ge was the main character, and super cute Yang Mi was the female lead~ ahhhh.. hope it’s good >_< ..Can’t wait til it comes out.

For the meantime, I’m watching an old-ish anime titled “Revolutionary Girl Utena”. I downloaded this aggggges ago but just left it sitting around and thought I might give it a go now.

    Revolutionary Girl Utena

    Not too surprisingly I’m enjoying this series so far. The director for this anime also worked on Sailor Moon so I can feel some similarities, hehehe. Although created in 1997, the art and animations are quite good. I’m up to around episode 17/39 so still a while away… hope it keeps me entertained :D I don’t mind that the two leads are both lesbians, as long as the story is good I’m happy. The last time I tried a Yuri genre,  “Maria-sama Ga Miteru” I was really bored ^_^;

And finally, something random to finish this entry:

    For you, Jacky. XD
