    COFA Annual 2007 OPENING!

    November 29th, 2007

    Dear Chibi,

The Opening night of the COFA Annual 2007 was finally here!! Probably one of the biggest/important event for COFA graduates… for the first time our final works are all screened/displayed/exhibited on the COFA campus for many many people to see =) I saw many works for the first time, including ones from my own group and it was all very exciting. I haven’t had much chance to check out the prints/installations/other art pieces that were displayed around campus- there was a 2 hr screening exhibition (including my own work) which we watched.
I’m going to come back here next Monday with my dad and Kazzy to see the exhibition =) Hope they like what they see too. From the screenings, Burpy’s (Michael B) 3D animation “Brushstroke” was very impressive.. I just kept thinking ‘omg..‘ Hope he displays it online sometime so I can share it with those who won’t be attending the annual. Top notch. Then of course there’s the hilarious and really cute animation by MZ–> Eugene 2“! MZ practically had no life this year and I’d say it was all very well worth it =) (well.. actually, he did go to HK for two weeks for a holiday in the middle of semester two… >.>..*envy*) This piece of work really reflects his humor and creative mind… great camera angles too! Halil’s “Time Stand Still” was just…funny. It’s so cute.. and the concept is simple yet it worked so well. I loved the close up of the clock just waiting for his hands to move ^^

    Let’s see… other mentions of chibi’s picks..

    Tom and Daniels “Camouflage 101
Althea’s “The Posioned Rain of Agahrti

I liked these animations.. lemme just plug in my own work too:
    Jennifer’s “Steal My Rain

wheee…go Jen! It doesn’t seem credible when the testimonial is written for and by the same person (XD)… but yesh, my piece is finally screened. I was so excited yet nervous at the same time while waiting for it to come up. When it finally came up though it seemed to play so fast and it was over before I could grasp what I had just seen. I will miss it though.. I kinda already do. It could have been better (like any other thing in life) but I was generally pleased with the outcome =) I’ve never done something so tough in my life.. it was really challenging and I did everything I could. I didn’t have much of a life either (XD.. to those outings and parties I ditched.. gomensai!) Hope people enjoyed it.

I will comment on the other works after I see them closely on Monday. I just want to finish off by giving special mention to Althea, Kerry, Mark, Jacky, Somps and Burpy for everything they have done for me this yr. This was a tough year, and they helped me out in many ways (even though not directly with the animation itself)- they’ve helped me get motivated.. when I was feeling depressed, stuck, lazy or procrastinating. My family has been so supportive, including not making me do any house chores (for the whole yr) so I could spend the time doing my animation. Thanks to those who like my project.
    Thank You!

    NANA movie 2

    November 24th, 2007

    Dear Chibi,

While watching the anime, I found myself feeling sad… while watching the live action movie, I found myself crying throughout the film. I’ve really wanted to watch this movie for quite some time but I couldn’t find the English subbed for it, and so eventually watched it on crunchyroll instead. I enjoyed it and it was faithful to the original which I liked, except the ending was better, hehe. I thought it was funny how characters like Junko had a scene that last about half a minute, teehee. No Sachikos though. I liked the choice they made in terms of which characters appeared and which parts were left out. Yuna Ito playing as Reira was funny.. I’m glad they decided to add the “Stella” part in the movie but it would have been cuter if she did that pose!

I don’t think this series is for everyone though, and it wouldn’t make much sense (and may even appear boring) if you haven’t seen the first movie. I also enjoyed watching “Ready-Steady-Nana” and “The Other Side of NANA2″ (the Making) afterwards which was heaps good watch =) I would have preferred all the original cast from the first movie but I guess Yui Ichikawa taking over Hachi’s role wasn’t too bad.

    turn the facebook

    November 22nd, 2007

    Dear Chibi,

Today was one of those days where I didn’t know what to do with myself… I was extremely bored. Normally there would be something to do, like Uni work, or update websites, draw, watch anime…go out… but today was just one of those occasions where I couldn’t think of anything to do except complain how bored I am. Throughout the day I would turn off the computer and try look for something to do. I ended up folding some origami before getting a bruise on my knee from the desk and gave up ^^; I would randomly lie on my bed and fall asleep for an hour or so before coming to my senses and realising I’m sleeping way too much! Then its back to the computer. I played about 30 minutes of Starcraft hoping it would keep me occupied but boredom popped up again.. well, I think it never went away to begin with.

Finally, I thought..maybe I’d give Facebook a try seeing as people have been saying it’s quite addictive and takes up a lot of your time. This option seemed appealing cause that’s just what I needed! So I joined and played around with the interface, and bits and pieces.. it’s kinda cute..(I like my pet and aquarium) but then I didn’t really get hooked on it. Maybe addictiveness needs more time?

I really gotta think of something interesting to do… something to keep me busy and happy. Death Note was good, but it ended too quick (well…I watched it too fast ><). I got into the “update site” mode, but then worked on it for a full day yesterday and now have nothing to add. People are still busy doing exams and things too.

And now.. I shall end this post, cause I’m..bored. lol.

Death Note 2, The Last Name

    November 21st, 2007

    Dear Chibi,

I don’t quite know what to say about this movie. It seems like characters have been ‘dumbed-down’ so the cases were easier and quicker to solve (for the purpose of fitting the whole story in) Yet, its because characters are suppose to be very smart that makes Death Note clever. It was a bit better than the first movie, but I just gave up hope on Light… again, poor choice of actor.

I liked watching Misa and L interact in this scene, though it made L less…. wise. I think things went too easy for them.

They did an o-kayish job shortening the story, but somehow it felt longer than the events in the anime. I blame poor directing. You would think by cutting it down shorter everything would be more fast-paced.

There are a few bits I did like though, not to bag out the movie too much. I was interested in seeing how they can pull off the same ending without characters like Mello or Near appearing. I think it worked in some ways…

Anyways, I don’t want to say too much to spoil the story for anyone who does intend to watch this. I’ll finish off with two characters I liked:

Yay, after 9 months of looking at the green themed layout, I finally have the time and motivation to give [Fairy and Swordsman] a new look! I’ve been really wanting to change it for quite some time now… so happy XD hmm.. I like the colour scheme of this one quite a bit…pinkish-red is lovely.

    L change the WorLd

    November 20th, 2007

    Dear Chibi,

L.. I knew you looked familiar! I only just realised that Kenichi Matsuyama also acted in the NANA movie, as Shinichi Okazaki…lol.. how come I didn’t see that until now? Goodness, it’s so obvious now ^^; I have yet to finish the 2nd Movie of Death Note ’cause I watched half way and then had friends over last time (and..got a little bored) Will continue it some time soon though. There’s also some news on another…Death Note Movie?
    shin.jpg l.jpg

“L change the WorLd,” the movie, which opens on February 9, covers the final 23 days of L (played by Kenichi Matsuyama), which is not part of the original manga or films. To create the story, producers turned to a well-known author, who at the time had not yet read the original work.

The writer is not attaching his or her name to the novel; instead, it will be published under the name of “M.” The name is said to be symbolic, referring to “where those who have used the Death Note go,” which is “nothingness” (“mu”).

The novel version reportedly includes many scenes that do not appear in the film.
